What Makes a Successful Student?
Students are successful when they find something that motivates them to go to school, study, ask questions, take notes and get good grades. Successful students have many characteristics that are a combination of good attitudes, behaviors and skills. The following are some characteristics of successful students.
Take responsibility of their own learning: successful students are always active participants and try to learn by themselves. They just need some directions from the teacher. Successful students always try to improve their learning strategies; they listen, ask question, take notes, inquire, cooperate, act…etc. They take charge of their own learning experience. They are never tired or bored of being a student. Learning represents everything for them and they feel nothing can stop their ambition and academic success.
Ask questions: it is a very important habit, because it paves the way for learning to occur. Students learn a lot by asking questions. Brilliant thinkers never stop asking questions because they know that this isthe best way to gain deeper insights. Questions help students focus and pay attention. It is also essential for making the students’ notes clear and meaningful.
Time managers: successful students do not postpone their work. They learn how to manage their time and make a schedule for all their school activities. If you do not control time you will be controlled by it. As a student, education should be your priority. It would be fun to spend some time entertaining yourself, but not before finishing your school work.
Benefit from failure: failure does not mean that you cannot be successful. It just means that something is going wrong and needs some work. The problem does not reside in failure itself, but in how it is perceived. Failure is not a weakness and escaping it is an unrealistic goal. Successful students also experience failure sometimes. Failure can teach us that it is not that we are bad at something, just that we have to try a different method to find success.
